Foresight
A bushfire prediction porthole for Victorian fire services
Created by a multi-disciplinary team working within the predictive services department at DELWP, we not only delivered a digital product but proved that research is fundamental to effectively solving the right problems to enable fire workers to reduce response times in an emergency.
Run in a lean agile manner, this project went form discovery to delivery in 6 short months. The Code for Australia fellowship team (Merrin Macleod, Krishna Ali and me Georgina Lewis) have come to the close of our project with Predictive Services within the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP). I personally will never look at the Victorian landscape without thinking about the deep learning that this project has afforded me. It’s been amazing gaining insight into the people that keep Victoria safe from bushfires. On reflection the organisation have embraced User Centred Design processes very well. They’ve certainly contributed meaningfully to the scoping, prioritisation, implementation and testing of product features. |
